hi, just curious was there any particular reason why you chose the 5.3 Yukon harness? I was thinking about picking up a 99' Camaro parts car and using as much as I can out of that.

Terry,

If I had the cash I would buy them! However I do have a very good fabricator friend who will be helping me for beer... so We'll see!

Thank you very much for chiming in and taking a look at the site!

I just hand built some headers for our E30 LSx and it was a total nightmare. I spent a good 40 hours on them and they look like crap - and I'm not a total hack at fab work. Our "stupid expensive" E36 LS1 swap, stainless steel, production headers are $1650, a whopping $55 more than LG Motorsports long tubes for a C5 or C6 Corvette (http://www.lgmotorsports.com/catalog/product_info.php?cPath=474_475&products_id=2113). And remember: ours used to be $2850/set!

We make these in VERY low volumes and they are the best headers you will ever see for an E36 LS1, bar none. They are SUPER easy to R&R, and in their third iteration are perfectly tweaked for the best fit.

Just know going in - when you build your own headers they won't look nearly as nice, fit as well, or make as much power as something that has been developed over 3+ years by a world class fabricator (Dallas Performance's Taylor Sims) and built to order on production fixtures by a major header manufacturer...

Cheers,
Terry @ Vorshlag

Awesome thank you for the tip, If you look here you can see what kind of clearance issues I will be facing... Might you have any suggestions?

http://lsxe36m3.com/?p=80

If I can save some fabrication time by using some ford headers rather then building from scratch that would be great. basically I need a block hugger long tube header, and then modify the drivers side where the steering shaft goes through the tubes. Maybe a set of fox body headers?

The SBC headers are designed with the two center ports being next to eachother in mind which might lead to more welding. One trick I've seen a lot of guys use is to take small block ford headers and weld them to the LS flange since the port spacing is similar.

Well I do not generally comment on blogs but I happened upon yours whilst I was doing a bit of work research in Google today therefore i thought I might leave a simple comment. I've clearly put in a bit of time here reading through and procrastinating! Wonderful stuff here and I'm going to be back in the future to see more. Cheers!

The track isn't being torn down it is up for sale waiting for a buyer who can run a racing facility. Please post so that racers can be praying for a good owner for the track.

Thank You,
